What you need
OBDLink EX (USB) ↗
The adapter FORScan recommends for Windows. Wired USB, switches HS-CAN and MS-CAN automatically, no dropped Bluetooth connection mid-write. Get this one if you plan to program.
OBDLink MX+ (Bluetooth) ↗
FORScan's recommended Bluetooth adapter for FORScan Lite on iPhone and Android, and a great everyday code reader. Works with FORScan for Windows too, but wired is safer for big writes.
NOCO GENIUS10 battery maintainer ↗
Keeps the 12 V battery steady while the ignition is on for long reads, writes and module updates. Low voltage mid-write is the most common way to corrupt a module.

F-150 FORScan FAQ
What is FORScan?
FORScan is Windows software (plus the FORScan Lite phone app) that talks to Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Mazda modules. It reads manufacturer-specific trouble codes and, with the Extended License, changes module configuration ("As-Built" data), which is how most F-150 "mods" are done.
Where do these F-150 FORScan codes come from?
Every entry is compiled from publicly available sources: owner forums, the FORScan forum, community spreadsheets and videos. Each mod page links to the sources it was built from. We have not verified every change on every truck.
Is it safe to change my F-150 with FORScan?
Usually, if you back up every module first, keep the battery on a maintainer, use a wired adapter and change one thing at a time. But a bad write can disable features or modules, may affect your warranty, and some changes can affect safety or legal compliance. You make changes at your own risk.
Which adapter should I buy for FORScan?
FORScan recommends the OBDLink EX (USB) for FORScan for Windows and the OBDLink MX+ (Bluetooth) for the phone apps. Cheap ELM327 clones often cannot reach Ford's MS-CAN bus reliably.
Do FORScan mods differ between EcoBoost, 5.0L, PowerBoost and Lightning trucks?
Mostly not: body, lighting and SYNC mods are shared across 2021+ powertrains. Where it matters, each mod lists it, for example the climate bar uses a different value on the PowerBoost hybrid, digital temperature gauges depend on turbo vs. non-turbo and need the 12-inch cluster, and some mods are Lightning-only or not applicable to the Lightning. Use the Powertrain filter in the lookup.
Does FORScan work on 2025 and 2026 F-150s?
FORScan states support for 2021–2024 vehicles is limited and operation on 2025+ vehicles is not guaranteed. Check the FORScan forum for your exact truck before buying anything.
Can a dealer undo a FORScan change?
A dealer can reprogram modules back to Ford's factory configuration, and a software update at the dealer may overwrite your changes. Keep your own As-Built backup so you can restore or reapply changes yourself.
